PMP purchases CutStar press and relocates sheetfed and digital print teams

PMP Limited has invested in a Heidelberg CutStar sheetfed press and ancillary equipment worth more than $3 million.
The new press is at the leading edge of sheet fed printing technology and will be the first 10 colour press of its kind in New Zealand which includes a reel to sheet paper conversion system.
PMP Executive General Manager, Peter Browne, says the new press is a significant investment for PMP and is one that represents the company's commitment to the sheetfed offset print market.
"The new press means we are taking our printing technology in New Zealand to a whole new level," says Mr Browne.
"The Heidelberg press is not only a more efficient press, but it enables us to leverage the cost advantage we have as the largest buyer of commercial reels in Australasia.”
“It also means we can provide customers with the most cost effective solution – whether it is heatset, reel fed sheetfed, traditional sheetfed or digital. This is especially important to some of our larger customers who have a very diverse portfolio of work, but want to deal with one supplier."
Some of the features of the Heidelberg press include "Axis Control" colour management, automatic plate and inking systems, as well as automatic blanket, roller and cylinder washing technology.
The press will be located at PMP's new PMP Maxum Auckland site in Vestey Drive, Mt Wellington.
With the move to a new location, PMP has also made changes to its shortrun digital and sheet fed printing structures, combining Maxum Real Estate and Printworld, its sheetfed printing operation, at the one site in Mt Wellington. The group will also come under one umbrella – PMP Maxum. PMP's Christchurch Saxon site will also join the group.
Mr Browne says the structural changes have been made to provide an even more seamless and professional service and product to its clients.
"Our customer service, design and print teams will all be located in one site, improving communication between the different teams – and with our clients and suppliers.
